Elizabeth Alexander talks with “Left of Black”about Hip-Hop and the Black aesthetic

Left of Black host Mark Anthony Neal is joined by Professor Elizabeth Alexander to discuss the black art aesthetic and whether hip hop is poetry. Professor Alexander is the Thomas E. Donnelley Professor of African American Studies, American Studies and English at Yale University. Professor Alexander was chosen by President Obama to compose a poem for his 2008 inauguration.
