Please join us Thursday, October 24 for Endeavors
We will be discussing a selection of work by Emily Bernard, Yale American Studies B.A. and Ph.D., this year’s James Weldon Johnson Memorial Lecturer. A short talk, an essay, and a chapter by Bernard are attached. The conversation will be led by Asya Taylor, Rachael Hatchett, and Jessica Modi, members of the James Weldon Johnson Memorial Lecture Planning Committee.
A small number of free copies of Bernard’s acclaimed 2019 essay collection Black is the Body: Stories from My Grandmother’s Time, My Mother’s Time, and Mine are available in African American Studies. Please see Ms. Vanessa Epps for a copy. Copies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The seminar will take place at 81 Wall Street (Gordon Parks Room 201) from 11:30am – 1:00pm. Lunch will be served at 11:15am.
The James Weldon Johnson Memorial Lecture will take place at Beinecke Library that same afternoon, October 24th at 4:00pm, with a reception following. All are welcome.
