Professor Hazel V. Carby will deliver the 2019 Gates Lecture, “Difficult Times,” on Thursday, April 11, 5pm, at the Whitney Humanities Center. 
The event is open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture. 
 
 
Hazel V. Carby is the Charles C. and Dorothea S. Dilley Professor of African American Studies, Professor of American Studies, and Director of the Initiative on Race Gender and globalization.
 
The Gates Lecture is co-sponsored by the Whitney Humanities Center.
