Camilla Owens ‘20 publishes book

Headline: Ph.D. Alum Camille Owens Publishes First Book

Camille Owens, alumna of the combined PhD program in American Studies and African American Studies and now Assistant Professor of English at McGill University, has published her first book! Like Children: Black Prodigy and the Measure of the Human was released this month by NYU Press. The book is a revised version of Camille’s award-winning dissertation, which takes the counterintuitive example of Black child prodigies to interrogate how and why Black children were denied the protections and privileges of liberal childhood across the 18^th to mid-20^th centuries. Congratulations Dr. Owens!!
