On April 15, 2023 Braxton D. Shelley, Associate Professor of Music, of Sacred Music, and of Divinity and ISM’s Interdisciplinary Program in Music and Black Church hosted a series of events, timed to coincide with a residency by the legendary Clark Sisters, one of the most celebrated groups in gospel’s history .
During this series of events, the Divinity School held ‘The Clark Sisters Masterclass – Women of the Gospel’. Highlighted at this event were four student groups who wrote pieces and performed them, followed by a critique from The Clark Sisters. Our own graduate student Christoph’ McFadden along with his group presented their original song Surrender.
