Cleavers, Eldridge and Kathleen, featured in NYT’s “Style”

Eldridge and Kathleen Cleaver are featured in a New York Times photo spread for the article, “The Afro as a Natural Expression of Self,” (Oct. 3, 2013.)
The photo caption reads, “The style’s current iteration bears little kinship to the anti-gravity hair flaunted in the late 1960s by Angela Davis and other icons of the Black Power movement.”

Yet, while Eldridge Cleaver’s rather tame ‘fro is featured in the foreground of a photo, Kathleen Cleaver (AFAM Studies/Law), whose iconic Afro rivaled Angela’s “anti-gravity hair” back in the day, is “cropped” from the photo. Really?
