Dean Holloway named Edmund S. Morgan Professor

Dean Jonathan Holloway has been named the Edmund S. Morgan Professor of African American Studies, History and American Studies. Holloway, who became Dean of Yale College in 2014, was formerly chair of the African American Studies Department, Master of Calhoun College and chair of the Masters’ Council at Yale.
He is the author of four books, including Jim Crow Wisdom: Memory and Identity in Black America Since 1940 (2014). A scholar specializing in Black intellectual history, Holloway has written a new introduction to W.E.B. DuBois’s The Souls of Black Folk, to be published in June 2015.
