Otelia Cromwell was the first African American woman to earn the PhD at Yale University (1926).To honor Cromwell’s place in the Yale history, the Yale Women Faculty Forum (WFF) commissioned a painted portrait of Cromwell in 2017. The unveiling ceremony will take place on Friday , September 21, 2018, from 4:30 - 6:00 pm, at Kroon Hall, 195 Prospect St. Remarks will begin at 5:10 pm.
