Rankine donates $625,000 to study “whiteness”

Celebrated poet Claudia Rankine who was recently awarded a MacArthur genius grant of $625,000 will donate the prize to the Racial Imaginary Institute, an organization of writers and artists with whom she colloborates to engage in dialogues, readings, and other creative efforts aimed at examining how white supremacy influences American culture.

Claudia Rankine is the Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry in English and African American Studies at Yale University.
